Michele's Craving for the Day

It is a BEAUTIFUL day in New York City! Michele is one happy camper. I am hoping the spring weather continues. Unfortunately I have spent the majority of the day in my apartment doing school work. Boo! For lunch, I was craving some sort of smoothie, maybe a Berry Lime Sublime from Jamba Juice. Then I remembered Rita's Water Ice...the best thing that's happened to the east coast! I then started craving my usual order, a Gelati made by layering either vanilla, chocolate or twist (both vanilla and chocolate) custard, together with any flavor water ice, with an extra swirl of custard on the top. I was a fan of the Blueberry, Wild Berry Mix. Rita's brings me back to my days as an intern in DC. A group of my girlfriends decided to take a road trip to Palmyra one weekend to see the church history sites and Niagara Falls. As we were driving along, one of the girls sighted a Rita's. Natalie, our driver, slammed on the breaks and nearly got us in a car accident. Fortunately we safely arrived to Rita's and everyone was happy. I haven't seen a Rita's in New York...but I think I need to find the closest one...I mean I travel to Hackensack, NJ for Cheesecake Factory, why not travel for Rita's?!

"I'll sing it one last time for you"

Tonight I went to the Snow Patrol concert at Madison Square Garden. I've decided I definitely could handle dating a man with a sexy accent! I went with a fun group of girls in my ward. Best part of the night had to be when I misjudged the stairs and completely fell over! oops...fortunately it was pitch black. I am now wishing I would have gone to more concerts in the city!

Am I going to die??

So I may have done something pretty stupid. Yesterday I registered to run in the NYRR Half-Marathon Grand Prix. Couple things you should know about me. I am NOT a runner. I love team sports, and ran track for a couple of years in high school (only the 400m & 800m). Long distance running has never been my specialty. But for some odd reason, Michele thinks she can sign up last minute and run 13.1 miles without dying. Am I nuts? Maybe so. There is some good coming from this however:

A. I am exercising a lot more than I have been.
B. My muscles are actually sore, the good pain that is.
C. I get a free t-shirt.
D. I get to run with the "cool" kids in my ward. ha, that is a joke.
E. I start in Coney Island and run along Ocean Parkway to finish in Prospect Park. Should be a beautiful run.
F. I get free lemon-lime Gatorade along the way.
G. Bragging rights (if I finish)

There you have it. Sometimes you just have to try things out and go for it. My goal is to finish the race...

"Now Walk It Out"

It has been a while since I've blogged. I spent the last week in the western Caribbean (Haiti, Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Cozumel, & Miami)! I've heard mixed things about cruises, so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. I highly recommend going! It was amazing. It was so nice to get out of the death winter here in NYC and be on the beach! Mel, Kelly and I pretty much lived it up on our cruise...no holding back.

Day 1: Emergency Drill

Isn't she a beauty??

Day 2: At Sea The Girls All Dressed Up for Formal Night!
Day 3: Labadee, Haiti

Day 4: Ocho Rios, Jamaica
This was one of my favorite days! It was beautiful there. We had a blast hiking Dunn's River Falls, and snorkeling. Kelly has all of the good pictures from the Falls!

Night Life on the Ship! Our schedule went something like this: dinner, show/karaoke, piano bar with Martin, and then we would hit up "The Vault" a happening club for all of the spring breakers! haha. Kelly made it to the superstar karaoke finals! Mel and I even got to be her back up singers in the preliminaries.

The Dinner Crew!
DAY 5: Grand Cayman
Mel and I rented wave runners and had a little too much fun in the ocean. Mel got a little cocky driving that thing and dumped us! We hung out at 7 Mile Beach all day long...ahhh...missing that in my life right now!

DAY 6: Cozumel, Mexico
Mel and I went para sailing! I was a little nervous at first, but it was definitely worth going!

You better believe that is me up there!!

Day 7: At Sea

My little baby grew quite a bit on the cruise....the food was fabulous!
The Happy Couple

Day 8: Our flight didn't leave until late on Saturday night so we got to spend the day in Miami at South Beach! This will be my last spring break. I now enter the real working world! We barely missed the storm that hit NYC on Friday. I wish I could say it is good to be back in the 30 degree weather....

Who Could Ask For Anything More

I read an article reporting on the BYU vs Utah game on Saturday night. Words such as, DOMINATION, VICTORY, CHAMPIONS, were used to highlight the cougs blowout! I love a good rivalry and I love winning. Unfortunately I did not get a chance to watch the game (thank you MWC and your stupid contract) but I was overjoyed to learn that the Cougars will head into the Mountain West Conference Tournament in Las Vegas as the No. 1 seed! Way to go COUGS and way to sweep the UTES this season! Best of luck in the tournament!!

Crazy Morning

My commute to work usually takes me 40 minutes. Today it took me 2 hours and 15 minutes. You ask why? It was raining outside and the subway tracks fill with water. I walked from 110th Street to 96th Street. Waited for 20 minutes to get on the train. Got on the train. Met a nice man, whom I chatted with the entire way. Eventually made it to 14th Street, when the train conductor made an announcement apologizing for the delays informing us that they were unsure if the trains would continue running downtown. Ahhhh! So my new friend and I decided to walk from 14th Street to Franklin (about a 25 minute walk). Mind you it's raining outside. Fortunately for me I had an umbrella. Anyway, it is a 11:30am and I am going to attempt to be productive for the rest of my day!

Welcome March!

So any of you that know me well, remember that I am a crazy/passionate basketball fan! College basketball is definitely my favorite to watch. I spent many evenings in the Marriott Center as a faithful cougar fan back in the day when Rafael Araujo, Travis Hansen, Mark Bigelow, and Mike Hall got us some W's. Along with BYU basketball, I like to follow the zags. Adam Morrison was one sexy man, and an animal on the court last season! I love the month of March...bring on MARCH MADNESS!!! I even love to hear, "One Shining Moment" play after the final game! I get the chills. Anyway, get pumped for the big dance!
