Confession #2

I can't stop listening to this song!!! It is the cutest version. Yesterday I listened to this song 6 times on repeat in my car. That is a little obsessive. It is almost as bad as my obsession with Toto's, "Africa," last fall. Thank you Adi for introducing this gem to me.

I am also obsessed with this song:

Let us not forget where my obsession with Jenny started...TROOP BEVERLY HILLS!!!

This Land is YOUR Land!

Today I was a member of the day club and loved every minute of it. I miss my day club days. However, I am very grateful I have a job. I took the day off to spend time with my brother while he was in town for an extended layover, on his way to Cambridge. I love when I get family to visit me, even if it is for one day.

We decided to take a stroll in Arlington Cemetery. I LOVE this place. Every time I go, I wonder why I don't go more often. The grounds are beautiful.

He's ALL ready to go spend a couple of months at Cambridge! Good luck B-dawg!! I am excited for you and your upcoming adventures in Europe!
Don't worry, I made him listen to patriotic music on the way to the airport, since he will be missing Independence Day! Keep dreamin' on the British accent brother :)

Welcome Mr. Heaps!

Dear Jake,

I wanted to officially welcome you to the cougar club.  I already like you for many reasons: Not only are you the top QB recruit in the nation, but you are from the great state of Washington, which makes you that much cooler.  Washingtonians breed excellence, and humility from what I hear.  I also like that you choose to play at BYU because you were looking for an environment that embraces education, faith, family and football.  Well my friend, you've come to the right place.

I hold high expectations for you.  BYU football desperately needs a winning season.  I expect you to give 100% to the team, fans, and most of all for the love of the game.  If you give 100%, I will match your dedication, and continue to support you through the good and bad times.  I don't expect perfection.  I expect effort, a positive attitude, integrity, enthusiasm, and W's.  There is one area in which I expect perfection.  Whenever you play the runnin' Utes, DESTROY them.  I expect a perfect record when participating in the holy war.  I don't think that's too much to ask, do you?

Sincerely,

Your fellow Washingtonian, Cougar, and Friend,

Michele

p.s. Mr. Sarkisian will get over it.

"It never rains in southern California"

This past weekend I escaped the office, and rainstorms, and headed to San Diego, CA to attend a conference for work.  It was beautiful!  Thank you DC government!  The conference itself was pretty interesting.  The conference focused on how to better prepare our youth in the Child Welfare system, for adulthood, and have them experience a more successful transition from care.  Meet the group:

Here we are at our hotel.  I loved staying in the Gas Lamp district of SD.  It was a fun night life, and there are plenty of good restaurants.  SD knows how to do seafood right!
Site seeing in Old Town SD.

Their public transportation system is so much smaller than what we have in DC.  I became quite fond of the trolley rides!

My final day there was well spent at Pacific Beach...

AND...A trolley ride out to San Ysidro, the last stop in SD before the border. Here you see the Mexican flag waving in the city of Tijuana and the fence that divides the US from Mexico.
The highlight of my trip had to be meeting up with my middle school bff
It was so great to see you Kristen!
