Happy Days

So, I talked to my brother Stephen on the phone tonight for an hour. It put me in such a good mood! I am going to take a moment to brag about my brother. Stephen has a desire to do what is right. Stephen also is one of the funniest people I know. He seriously cracks me up. He also has the softest heart, and will be such a good missionary. He is getting anxious to receive his call! We talked about this summer, when the entire family would be together. Everyone is getting excited for Brian to come home! Living in New York City, I have got to see and do some pretty fun things! But really, nothing compares to hanging out with my family. Then I called my mom (I am lucky she talked to me during American Idol) and we also started talking about how fun it will be to have everyone together! I look forward to family basketball games, Barbeque's, DDR, rounds of Mafia (maybe not so much, the Mickelsen crew tends to get a little competitive with games), catch phrase, walks around the golf course trail, sitting out on the patio talking, Sunday dinners, playing with Haley, throwing the football around, measuring to see who is the tallest, watching seasons of the Office, rockin' out to Tom Petty, Cat Stevens, and Paul Simon, gospel discussions, scrap booking, wake boarding on the Columbia, etc, etc. Right after I ended the conversation with my mom, Lesley called! I was on the phone for probably a couple of hours tonight...and I loved every minute. So...pretty much I had an ideal night talking to my favorite people.

Do I really live here?

Last night my friend Kristan and I were crossing the street, when a huge, cat size rat darted in front of us. My immediate reaction was to cling to my friend and squeal. If any of you are familiar with my reaction to birds, it was much like that! Not too long ago I was doing laundry in my dreaded basement, when I spotted a rat out of the corner of my eye. This isn't funny. I really started freaking out. Of course, the elevator was at the top floor, so it felt like ages before it arrived to the basement. I thought I was going to start crying. Rats are much different than mice. I kid you not, when I say I have seen rats the size of small animals. My souper is supposed to be fixing the problem in our basement, but you can only imagine my fear to go down there! The rat infestation does not end here. Read about dozens of rats found scampering around a KFC/Taco Bell in Greenwich Village. I sometimes ask myself, "Do I really live here?"

Out of Control

I realized my blog has been bombarded with pictures lately. I promise to calm down and write more. It is just so tempting at the end of the day to post pictures, rather than taking time to write. Please accept my apology!!

The Land that I love!

This weekend was a great escape from the New York City life! I thoroughly enjoyed relaxing and just hanging out with an old BYU friend. This trip also confirmed that DC is where I want to live after graduation. It was fun to walk the streets of Old Town, and remember the days I spent there as an intern. One night we drove into the city, and I got to see the good ole' Barlow Center. Ahhh such good memories! Highlights of the weekend include:

- walking the streets of Old Town
- the picturesque view of the city, with the Potomac completely covered in ice
- dinner with Elder and Sister Sheppard (From Concord, CA, they had many kind words to say about the Blodgett Crew!!)
-Driving through Georgetown, and reflecting on all the late night shopping sprees, jazz clubs, and fine dining I did as a Barlow student.
- Brunch with some old and new friends
- taking a Sunday afternoon nap in Amber's love sac
- Sleeping in a queen size bed

Anyway, much thanks to my good friend Amber, for a fun weekend in DC!!

Here are some fun pics from when I lived in DC last!
